The second one is the Shippo pattern consisting of superimposed circles that form petals and represents the seven tressures of Buddhism (gold, silver, pearl, coral, crystal, agate and lapis lazuli. It is a symbol of harmony and good relationship and was often used in ladies Kimonos during the Edo period in Japan. It dates from the mid-twentieth century. The painting is in very good condition.Dimensions: 17" W X 16 1/2" H
