This outstanding textile is known as a Chakla cloth. These pieces are used for special occasions, such as weddings or festivals. In weddings they are used to cover the dowry, given to the bride and are seen as a good omen. The piece features shisha embroidery also known as mirror cloth. Small mirrors are stitched into the piece and then heavily embroidered. The pieces also show off the artistic skills of the woman who made them. The women are from the nomadic tribe, Banjara, located in Gujurat and Rajasthan India.

This Chakla, from the 20th century, is beautifully and intricately embroidered with a repeated flower patter. Each flower has a tiny mirror in the center. The colors include red, blue, yellow, orange, and green.

The piece is in very good condition.
