The nobleman, Thakur Sher Singh Sararsinghot Merita of Riyan, is on horseback and is dressed in white with a high conical turban. Two swords hang from his waist while he holds a hookah to his lips. Four attendants walk next to the nobleman on the horse. The horse is embellished in garments. The horse's legs are also off the ground, creating movement in the piece. The nobleman appears much larger than his attendants, this is known as hierarchy of scale, when the most important figure is depicted much larger than the people around them in order to showcase their power. The background is a beautiful green, giving the appearance of grass with a small register of blue for the sky. The painting is from the 19th century and is done in opaque watercolor. The Rajasthani School was a continuation of old Indian tradition and was developed under the Raiput kings. The men are commonly depicted in turbans, pyjama and patka. Their faces are in profile with elongated and oval features, a forehead that inclined downwards and a pointed nose and chin.

The piece has some signs of age and wear due to age.
