Meiji, Japanese scroll painting on silk of two rabbits under a Japanese sumac tree in fall when the foliage has turned a reddish color. The black and white rabbit is munching grass and the white rabbit is fast asleep. There is a steep grassy hill in the background. Painted on silk in subtle colors of black, grey and red, Signed "Unsai" with the artist's seal in red.

There is some foxing and some tiny holes in the silk at the top of the painting and in the mounting. Mounted on a yellow linen scroll backing with bone scroll caps. Mounting shows wear and tear appropriate with age.
