Meiji Japanese scroll painting on silk depicting pine boughs in the snow. The painting is executed in black and grey wash on a white background. The detail is nicely created with masterful brushwork. The scroll is signed and sealed by "Tanaka Shosai" an artist born in 1837 who studied under Susuki Shonen. The painting is mounted on a grey blue colored scroll background and has dark wood scroll caps. 
 
The painting has some aging and minor discoloration and the scroll mounting also has some lines of discoloration and fading. The scroll mounting is well worn with age and use.
