Vintage 20th century Lega Lukwakongo Bwami Cult Congo Africa Tribal mask wood craving. This piece is not a traditional mask, as it has a flat back, but is an amulet mask wood carving with holes drilled to be hung on a wall. The carving has a large forehead and arching brow with over incised almond shaped eyes and a thin nose. It also has a curved, incised mouth. Remains of white kaolin pigment covers the face and the eyes and forehead are painted black. There is a dark black line that follows down the center of the nose.
 
The Lega are tribal forest dwelling people in Central Africa.
