The product is a Japanese Katana with a 28" blade, from the Late Muromachi Era around 1450. There is a partial inscription on the tang reading, "Bishu Osa-" which was a famous sword making center. The tsuba is made from iron with gilt and silver inlays and features a design of mist and wild chrysanthemums. The tsuba is from the Mito School, circa 1840. The hilt of the sword is done in the handachi style and dates to the Meiji era (1868-1912). The menuki dates to circa 19th century and are made from a copper alloy. The sheath is a high quality lacquered magnolia wood and dates to circa 19th century. The habaki is from the Meiji era and is made from copper with engraved pine tree, needles and pine cones, all symbols of long life. This collectible sword also comes with a stand, making it a unique and striking display piece.
