The Japanese Eggplant Tobacco Pouch is an antique original item. The pouch is designed in the shape of an eggplant and was likely used to hold tobacco. This unique and traditional Japanese piece would make a charming addition to any collection. The top of the piece has a beautiful line work pattern, mimicking the stem of an eggplant. The body of the piece would have been carved on a lathe, in order to create the perfect round shape. The pouch/inro would have been suspended from an obi, which would have been worn around the waist of the kimono.
