The product is a Japanese 19th Century c. 1860 copper menuki, in the shape of a centipede. Centipedes are associated with samurai. They only move forwards, never backwards whcih is a symbol of unwavering advance and no retreat. Menuki are a type of ornament used to decorative samurai swords. This menuki features intricate designs and craftsmanship, reflecting the artistic style of the time period.
