This product is a rare and highly collectible framed woodblock print from Japan, featuring the iconic Jo & Uba, hand-colored by the renowned artist Hasegawa Sadanobu III. As the legend and Noh Play go, Jo and uba were an old married couple whose spirits entered the ancient pine trees at Takasago. The couple can been seen sweeping pine needles, while something catches their attention to the right. The piece represents the ideal marriage; growing old together in love and remaining unted even after death. The print is signed Sadanobu (Hasegawa Sadanobu III) and printed by Uchida around 1950.
