Merycoidodontoidea, commonly called oreodonts, are an extinct superfamily of mammals. Oreodonts chewed cud like modern sheep and cows, but are most closely related to modern camels. The herbivores grazed plains and riverbeds while they were spread across North America, from 34 mya until approximately 4 mya, during the Pliocene epoch. This skull is set in stone, with a near full mouth of teeth exposed. Originates from a private collection.
