Edo Japanese, Early 19th Century Temple Shrine Sacred Altar Mirror, carved wood, gesso and polychromed.

The mirror disc is encased in a dimensionally carved wood  frame with a cloud form pattern that has been covered with gesso, painted and gilded overall.  The cloud mirror frame is supported by a carved wood base depicting landscape of water and mountains also covered with gesso and polychromed in rich red and brown colors.  Absolutely gorgeous piece with beautiful warm patina on mirror.
