An original oil painting from the early 19th century, circa 1805, depicting a young woman holding wooden Sulphur matches. Sulphur matches were in use around 1805, which would date this painting to around the first half of the 20th century. The young woman's garments look European. The frame also appears to be from the 19th century, done with gilt and gesso. The painting is unsigned.

The painting is in good condition. The frame shows some signs of age.
