Chinese 19th Century Binding Women's Cloud Shoes are made of satin and fabric in a vibrant red color. Originating from China, these antique shoes feature a unique design inspired by traditional Chinese culture. Foot binding was a Chinese custom of breaking and tightly binding the feet of young girls in order to change the shape and size. Bound feet were considered a status symbol and a sign of feminine beauty. Girls/women who had their feet bound wore these shoes. The shoes have a floral pattern on each side.
