Cast bronze figure depicting Phra Rahu, the powerful celestial being associated with eclipses and astrology in Thai Buddhism. Rahu is traditionally shown swallowing the moon or sun, symbolizing his role in eclipses and his power to absorb misfortune.
The figure features a crowned head, large expressive eyes, and stylized wings, rendered in a dynamic crouching pose with hands raised toward the mouth. The sculpture has a dark patina that highlights the detailed facial features and textured wings. Mounted on a later wooden display base. Displays well and makes an interesting addition to a collection of Buddhist or Southeast Asian art.
The piece has a very nice patina. The wooden bas has some surface wear.
