This Antique Japanese Textile Printing Block from the 19th century features a beautiful Tree Motif design, showcasing traditional Japanese artistry and craftsmanship. Made of wood, this printing block would have been used to create intricate designs on fabrics, such as kimono and uchikake. With its historical significance and unique aesthetic, this piece would make a valuable addition to any collection of Japanese antiques or Asian antiques.

How it was used

1. The artisan pressed the block into paste or dye.

2. It was stamped onto fabric in a repeating pattern.

3. For resist work, the paste would prevent dye penetration, creating the design after dyeing.

The wood has some wear due to age and wear. Tape for extra support on the back due to hairline split. A couple rised metal "spikes" are missing. Good condition.
