A pair of 19th century male and female standing tole figures made from molded and formed tin. They have tin bodies, which have been painted. Their garments reflect the 19th century German/Swiss style. The man wears a coat with lederhosen, with a hat upon his head. He holds a walking stick in one hand and carries a large basket on his back. The woman wears an apron and has a long sleeved blouse. She also wears a hat with a ribbon tied around. She holds a bucket in one hand, possibly for grain, grapes, or milk. The figures are mounted on wood and black stone.These figures were popular tourist gifts around the DACH region (Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and Bavaria)The pair are in fair condition. The man has a quarter inch hole in the back of his head. The paint is chipping, and the wooden base has some pitting, due to old age.Dimensions: 16" H X 6 1/2" X 3" D
