20th century, central Java, Surakarta (Solo), Indonesia, carved wood keris handle in the Planer form. The handle is carved with a rounded top and smooth flat angular sides. On the inside curve of the handle there are two precisely and dimensionally carved mask shapes. The handle surfaces are polished and sanded smooth. The wood has a rich satiny smooth feel and a warm brown color.
