We are pleased to offer this 20th Century, Showa Period Japanese Kannon (Guanyin) figurine/statue. Hand carved from a single piece of wood, this standing figure of Guanyin is wearing a long hooded, flowing robe (allowing the bottom portion of her crown to be viewed), as well as a beaded necklace. Her left hand is tucked underneath her right, which is displaying the compassion mudra. This figure’s face bears a peaceful expression and features a black coral inlay to the pupil of each half-closed eye. The wood surface acquired a rich patina from age and handling. This piece has been signed by the sculpture/artist, Suke Koe (see photos). Please note, the figure's foot and hand have been restored. The piece is missing it's other foot, but is in pretty good condition otherwise.
