This is a amazing 19th century Chinese silk court robe. The robe's  background is black with a blue interior. There are 10 rondels embroidered with couched gold metallic thread having flowers and gourd forming a border with blessing and good health symbols in the center. Blessing and good fortune symbols are embroidered on the black background. The bottom is embroidered with vertical stripes that represent water with waves and rocks rising and combined with auspicious symbols. Embroidered couched gold thread Rank badges having deer and bird motif designs are on the front and back. Blue sleeve cuffs are embroidered with couched gold metallic thread having elaborate bird and dragon motif banded with auspicious, good fortune and good health symbols.
Good condition, intact, some light staining inside lining. Some slide fading of embroidered colors. No losses, minor wear inside lining. Robe evaluated by Jon Eric Riis, Textile Expert, Atlanta, Georgia.
