19th century Persian illuminated manuscript page painted with gouache paint on thin paper. This page shows an illustrated painting on one side and Farsi script on the other. 
 
The painting depicts a royal person sitting under an umbrella with an attendant fanning him as he watches a group of men sit in the water. The painting is bordered by illustrations of men farming amoungst tall plants. 
 
This painting is framed in a two-sided curved Plexiglass frame. About 1/4" of the top border has been exposed and frayed, but has not damaged the painting. This page can be removed from its frame.
