18th or early 19th century Chinese formal chair cover illustrated on page 246 of the Book Threads of Gold. Hand stitched. In loosely spun silk thread in a running back stitch, the images are satin stitch.
Top section has a central floral rondel framed by auspicious symbols and borders. The bottom section represents a mythological HoHo bird along with scrolling clouds and auspicious symbols.
